I have been looking and haven’t seen it clearly, ruled how you can engage multiple targets in melee, or even if you can spread your attacks across multiple opponents. You can do this with Advantages when attacking at range, but I can’t determine if there is a way to duplicate this with melee attacks.
In some Homebrew supplements, I have seen Talents that let you attack multiple opponents or spread the damage across multiple opponents. But nothing in the official rules.
Is there something I am missing, or is there a Talent available in the official rules that covers this?
I have been considering modifying the rules to do this as homebrew, but I would rather stay within the rules first.
Technically when you go against a group of minions, you engage all of them and kill more if you deal enough wounds to the group.
If it were rivals, you could.attack more of them with 2 weapon fighting maybe? If they are standing next to each other and the GM rules it that you can be engage to both.
Also, just a clarification, you can only deal wounds to mutliple enemies (not minions which work the same as I described) with advantage if you have the Autofire ability which has its own targeting rules.
Whether or not you are Engaged with multiple targets depends entirely on relative positioning. Minions are all assumed to be Engaged with each other, so if you Engage one you’d be assumed to be Engaging all of them. With others, it would depend on how close they are and if you’re trying to Engage all of them, or stay on the edge.
There is no way to spread your melee attacks across multiple opponents, aside from Wound spillover when attacking a Minion group. The only exception is a Lightsaber talent called Sarlacc Sweep which mimics Auto-Fire, but for Engaged targets.
