Question about blank dice

Hello I live in China and it’s impossible for me to buy a dice pack so I usually use the ffg dice generator on my phone for Genesys.

i did buy some blank coloured dice now that I want to paint/carve into Genesys dice. How would you do that? I heard some get decal foil and print and glue it but i don’t own a printer an I think decal foil is also unavailable here due to the small table top community.

Which paint would permanent mark the die or should I carve it with a sharp knife and then paint the symbols, but how to do this without the die looking like a butchered first grader project?

Any ideas? Thanks a lot and greetings from Shenyang

If you don’t have experience with these sorts of projects, I would recommend simplifying the symbols and doing it with easy-to-use tools. Fine-tipped paint pens may be your best bet.

I don’t have experience with this particular sort of project, but I have some experience in similar areas and know that trying to carve the symbols with a knife will be tricky. You’ll need to secure the die somehow so that you can apply pressure without slipping, and while a vise will do that pretty effectively, it’ll also leave marks on the plastic, which you probably want to avoid.

If I were undertaking this project, I would research paint pens and buy a black pen and a white pen that seemed best. I would then use a precursor to mark out what I intend to draw and go over those lines with the paint pen.

If I were going to do this project, but try to etch the plastic, I would line a vise grip with foam so the teeth don’t mark the die, mark out the design on paper, and fasten the paper to the die. I would then cut along the lines of the paper to etch the shape. That falls into the category of “best laid plans of mice and men often go awry,” however, because I haven’t tried that myself.

Thanks, so awesome you are still so committed to this forum. I feel the Genesys system deserves more love and it does what it intends to do very well.
