How many maneuvers should it take to reload a weapon with the Extra Reload item? I have been running it as 1 maneuver to draw the extra reload and a second to use it, but I was curious how everyone else feels about it and if RAW seems like it gears more towards 1 maneuver to anybody.
I run it (same for stimpacks etc.) as X Maneuvers to draw and one Maneuver to reload. Quick Draw can speed up the process of drawing it.
My reasoning is that since there are gear and abilities that speed up the process of drawing items (Military Belt Pouch, for example), it must cost something in order to draw the item.
Further, if they have the item in a backpack, it’ll take a Maneuver in order to access the backpack in the first place, then another Maneuver to dig around for it, and then a third Maneuver to actually load—good reason to be careful with your inventory.
The RAW isn’t clear. Either conclusion can be drawn from inference. I suspect most people have it as one Maneuver. A good narrative argument for that approach is that if it’s already easily accessible (such as on Load-Bearing Gear) it should only take a combined Maneuver to retrieve and load. After all, trained weapons-handlers retrieve and reload very quickly. I’m sympathetic to that argument, but would point out Quick Draw as a counter.
Hope these thoughts were helpful.
Very insightful. I feel more or less the same for my tables.
