I was recently looking at which kyber crystals might match well with a Shien Expert and came across the Solari Crystal. My question is: Could you theoreticallly combine Supreme Parry’s reduction of the strain cost to 1 and the Solari Crystal’s reduction of it by 1 to make it completely free? Is there a rule that prevents this that I am unaware of?
The Solari Crystal has no minimum listed, so it could reduce the cost of the Reflect incidental to 0 in combination with Supreme Reflect.
Your title says Supreme Reflect, but your post says Supreme Parry which I believe to be a mistake, but so it’s clear, the Solari Crystal only affects Reflect, not Parry.
Oh, yeah, my bad, I did know it only affects Reflect. Thank you for the answer, though!
I figured that must be the case, but thought maybe there was some general rule preventing strain costs of talents from hitting 0 or something similar, and I just didn’t know about it. It seems, while not completely busted, kind of game-breaking in a way.
Yeah, but at the same time, it requires pretty significant investment from the player, and it’s no more broken than a 5 Brawn Clone with Marauder and Clone Trooper (with clone armor, 11 Soak). Unlike pure Soak, “free” Reflect has enough conditions that it’s manageable from the GM side, and unlike Parry, it isn’t likely to be used in a “duel” context where it conveys a significant advantage.
