What are some old-school (and modern day Earth) spaceflight terms and tech you use in your games?

I am very interested in real human spaceflight and like to stay appraised on SpaceX and NASA’s latest projects. I sometimes want to find creative ways to incorporate some of the real current science of space technology into my Star Wars gameplay but it is very hard as rocket ships and moon landers would be considered archaic antiques in the setting and ships don’t really need to rely on aerobreaking or Delta-V’s anymore as the secondary engines on most ships use repulsorlift technology.

That being said; I still like to inject a sense of realism into my space campaigns and I was wondering if anyone has included real-world space age elements into their game and would be willing to share with me so I can do so as well.

It can be anything related to current (or even 1960’s) spaceflight science and technology?

Yeah, Star Wars tech obliterates the need for most current/past techs. The whole way you get to and from orbit is completely changed, even making space elevators (a future technology) inefficient at best outside of exceptional circumstances. Aboard ships, atmosphere and gravity are easily taken care of, so most of the health aspects to space travel are irrelevant.

Where you have a lot of room is when stuff breaks down. Strip them down to a spacesuit and dump them on an asteroid, and they’re restricted to the same rules as a contemporary person in the same situation. Oxygen supplies, zero-g maneuvers, decompression and atmosphere leaks, the danger of fire, all of that is stuff you can play with when technology fails, suffers damage, or is destroyed.

Rovers are still relevant, though, so whether they’re droids or a larger vehicle used to transport people, you can borrow some of the styles, constructions, and what-not for Star Wars.

Just some thoughts. Hope it helped!
