Book of Boba Fett [Spoilers]

I looked up IG-88 Legends. It’s quite confusing, since writers kept bringing him back. Hard to completely kill a droid! It looks like IG-88B in Legends was killed at Bespin. But, further research shows IG88A 2.0 (really) was alive in some way until 24ABY, years after Book of Boba or Mandalorian. So, even if the writers decide to honor Legends, they still have a way for one of the many versions of IG88 to be up and walking.

Anyway, I don’t expect IG88 at all, I expect Mando, but thought it would be cool for a Canon version of Bossk, Dengar, or IG-88 to show up.

Yeah it looks like this is considered canon and conflicts with much of Legends in Wookiepedia. Comic canon that is.

The what…?
*goes to Wookieepedia*
“Oh look, they updated the site and broke the search bar again.”
Hmm, okay. Never heard of that.

My memory was that IG-88 was—in canon—killed and dead on Cloud City. Basically the Legends story without the additional kookiness.

Crossover storyline in the various comics from last year. IG-88 even had his own one-shot at the end of the event.

Episode 5.

That was wizard! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Very nice to see Din again, the covert on that halo-like structure. Pretty awesome place, wherever it was it’s a place that would be cool to send players. Flashback to the bombing of Mandalore, the alternate perspective on Bo-Katan’s rule (and its failure being linked to the darksaber) … the duel … A customised N-1 !!! The x-wing cops? Irregular modifications? Gah! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Really enjoyed this Mandalorian episode

This one was very good, and the first I have flat-out enjoyed.

I do have to point out the physics of the beskar spear piercing armor. I’m no expert, but while beskar can almost certainly punch through beskar, wouldn’t it take too much force? More force that a lone person can exert under typical combat conditions? It just strikes me as an odd statement, though perhaps it is accurate. If any of you have further insight on the physics involved (disregarding the phantom, only barely-understood properties of the fictional metal), I would appreciate your take on it.

For all you who said Mando’a was just Legends and I couldn’t bring it up, now it’s not. So there. ^_^

The ringworld was awesome, and I’m very interested in its backstory. Ringworlds are daunting projects, and would often be built as a civilizational achievement, out of necessity, or both. In the world of Star Wars, that doesn’t translate quite as well, especially given the prevalence of habitable planets, so I’m very curious.

This whole episode was quite good, and The Armorer gave us two great memes. “Sadly, it only exists in Legends,” and “Persistence without insight will lead to the same outcome.” Gives a new spin on the internet definition of insanity, one more fitting of my general method of communication.

The steam rising behind Mando’s leg made it look like his wound was smoking, and I love how the fabric tie looks like a Yodaling head.

There was a lot to like about this particular one, and I would be remiss if I did not mention the TSA sequence. Sadly, I was anticipating a very similar scene in the book I’m writing, but now it would appear like I stole it from BoBF. Just like how The Mandalorian stole a bunch of names from my Mandalorian campaign.

Oh, well. But that whole airline scene was very well-done, and I liked the little Rodian. The mother was like “Don’t look at the big bad Mando, son!” :D

Also, speaking as a fighter plane, being a fighter doesn’t mean you’re bumpy. I’m smooth as molasses… Big, smooth, and fast. Though not particularly agile at low altitudes. But up where the air’s thin and my pilot can’t breathe… No one can catch me.
(Also, more plating=good, less plating=bad. That N-1 looks barely space-worthy.)

It’s pointy and sharp? Like only beskar can be? Thus, and I’m no physicist, the notion that less force would be required to push the perfectly pointy and sharp beskar end through a piece of armour of the same material, could make sense… pointy requires less force to push through something flat/blunt … I figure. I dunno. It’d probably require force, but it would be possible, as opposed to many other kinds of material… I take it.

And the ring world is called “Glavis”. Huh.

That episode was great. I loved Din fessing up after he messes Paz up :joy:

Real ‘oh crap’ moment in his head. Money on him finding a Mythosaur or it’s remains on Mandalore.

Crazy theory but might the armorer be Sabine Wren?

Almost certainly not. The character’s designs, mannerisms, proportions, and behaviors are significantly different, not to mention voice.

The voice could be modulated. The armorer is a 2-weapon fighter and darksabre aside so was Sabine.

I don’t think there’s that big a physical difference.

I think Sabine is much shorter and less physically substantial. But she duel-wielded blasters, not heavy smithing weapons. Yes she references “forging her armor,” but that doesn’t mean she was physically the one melting down and reforging the material, it could have simply meant that she was the one pursuing/instigating/designing the process.

That aside, however, the character’s actions, past, mannerisms, and personality simply do not line up at all. And all the “This is the Way” talk. That was introduced for a new Mandalorian faction, a faction Sabine was definitely not a part of.

And quite obviously, character design: For Sabine to have given up painting things vibrant colors would be quite a step, particularly since we do see her post-Endor.

Which reminds me, wasn’t it confirmed that she went with Ahsoka to hunt for Ezra? Sure that could’ve already been concluded, but since they are still planning an Ahsoka series, it seems more likely that she’d show up there.

I think your probably spot on but I’m not ruling it out. Trauma from the Night of a thousand tears, blaming herself for handing Bo the darksabre could change the character.

That said I’m crazy about the Armorer so I’d probably be disappointed if the merged them.

Luckily like I said I agree it’s not likely.

Loved it. Which established for me how BoB is just good, and Mando is great. The best episode of BoB so far is a Mando episode. That was very telling for me.

Boba should have more helmet, less talk, more sinister viciousness. Imagine the series with Fennec doing all of the talking, Boba there looking on with singular commands/statements, not knowing if the scene was going to suddenly end with him nodding and walking away silently or lighting up the place.

So, when the Bluray set of the Mando series comes out someday, are we going to have to buy BoB season 1 to get the complete story? Or will they be nice and make it Episode 0 of Season 3?

The ship mechanic still gets on my nerves a bit. Yes she’s for comic relief, but the comedy is a bit over the top. She’s like that irritating uncle that keeps repeating the same joke over and over to make sure we got it. But, perhaps that’s the point.

I think both series are great, but I completely agree that this episode was a Mandalorian episode. Perhaps this is by design, and there’s a larger picture we’re still not seeing, or understanding, with regard to how they intend to tell these stories set post-RotJ…

I quite enjoy Peli Motto, she’s comic relief, and a local… that dated a Jawa at some point … so now we know they are/may be furry under those hoods… and I do like her quirks and (absolute) candor. I fear she may be killed during the coming war … or at least suspected killed…

I think that’ll be a non-issue. They’ve already said the Marvel D+ series won’t be released on physical media, and I’m betting the same will apply to Star Wars (which also means no Clone Wars season 7 to complete the physical media sets out there). It’s all about incentivizing subscriptions.

(You can read my ranting, or just read this as it sums up pretty much everything.

For simplicities sake, it was an amazing Mandalorian episode, but a terrible TBOBF episode

Now, on to the ranting.)

I watched Episode 5 last night and I’ll just start with

Why

The good:

The episode itself was very good. In fact, if it hadn’t been for Mando it would’ve been a 5/5. However, I’ll get into that in a minute. I really enjoyed all the ANH droids in the hanger, a very cool touch. I love how they are throwing these things in (Like touche station) for the OG’s. The N-1 was awesome, I love how the New Republic pilots are just cops in X-Wings patrolling the galaxy. I also enjoyed seeing the darksaber be “heavy.” I’m probably gonna modify the RAW stat block in DOR so that the Darksaber has a cumbersome ability, but instead of Brawn, it would be Willpower. (I’m not good at spiffy names, I’m open to suggestions). I also love how Mando couldn’t get over how the N-1 wasn’t another Razor crest/Gunship.

The Bad:

Let’s go back to my “Why.” I didn’t want Mando in this series. Not at all. He’s got his own show and does need to be in this, but I get it, marketing and whatnot. I’m probably going to say it again but that’s my opinion on that subject. The gangsters on that big ring city thing (I don’t know what it’s called) Mando seemed a little too pissed at for pretty much no reason. We don’t have the backstory for this but I’ll assume that It’ll be explained in some flashbacks during Mando Season 3 that doesn’t need to be there.

Final Thoughts:

As I said earlier, It would’ve been 5/5 if not for Mando. Because of Mando and the lack of Boba Fett, I’m bumping that down to a 3.5/5. A little harsh but I’m just in that mood today.

Mando wasn’t pissed at either set of gangsters.

The Klatoonian was a bounty and the others (who he started to get pissy with) were dicking about with his pay.
